PTFE fiber has a wide fineness distribution range, fiber strength is 1.37cn/dtex, melting point of about 327 ℃, limit oxygen index of 95%, friction coefficient of about 0.2, and water contact angle of about 120 degree. It can be widely used in the following five aspects:

  1. Application in filtering materials: The bag filter developed by PTFE fiber has excellent temperature resistance, acid resistance, alkali resistance and oxidation resistance. Therefore, it can be used for the filtration of high temperature and high humidity dust and corrosion-resistant gases. With good low friction, smooth surface, easy to remove dust, low resistance; With good flammability, insulation and insulation, long service life. PTFE filament through twisting, warp and weaving processes to prepare PTFE fiber mesh cloth, composite sulfonic acid resin ion exchange film, is an essential component of chlor-alkali engineering. Application in aerospace and personal protection: Spacesuits are generally composed of underwear, ventilation layer, heat preservation layer, air-tight restriction layer, water-cooled clothing, heat-insulating clothing and anti-tearing layer. The limiting layer is polyamide fiber, PTFE fiber or aramid fiber. The main material of tear proof layer is synthetic fiber, such as aramid, PTFE fiber fabric.
  3. Application in architecture: PTFE woven fabric is used as the base cloth, the surface composite PTFE film is prepared into membrane structure building materials, it has good light transmittance, can reduce the cost of lighting and air conditioning, good aging resistance, low friction coefficient, the surface is not easy to accumulate dust, the construction period of the large frame roof can be shortened by 50%, lightweight, shockproof, non-combustible, design freedom and other advantages. Therefore, it can be used as the roofing material of outdoor court, arena, gymnasium, skating rink, swimming pool, large exhibition, etc.
  4. Application in the field of self-lubrication: PTFE fiber has low friction coefficient and is made into fabric self-lubricating liner by weaving and impregnating in phenolic resin, epoxy resin and other resins. In the process of heavy load wear, PTFE transfer film will be formed between the contact surfaces of the inner and outer rings of the bearing, thus significantly reducing the friction coefficient between the inner and outer rings of the bearing and extending the service life of the self-lubricating joint bearing. PTFE fiber or fabric bearing with lubrication free, durable and good environmental adaptability and other characteristics, is widely used in the strong load, maintenance free, small size and light weight bearing industry. PTFE fiber bearings are used in food processing machinery, to a large extent to ensure food hygiene, the elimination of lubricating oil pollution.
  5. Application in medical and health care: PTFE yarn is pure inert, non-toxic, have very strong adaptability, can not cause the rejection of the body, no physical side effects to human body, can use any method of disinfection, with many microporous structure, which can be used for soft tissue regeneration of artificial blood vessels, and used in blood vessels, heart, general surgery and plastic surgery surgical sutures. It has the advantages of excellent anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, long flexural life and zero moisture recovery, etc. PTFE yarn has also been used as a abrasion-resistant component for wear-resistant clothing in recent years.
